Fulfilled Messianic Prophecy
A Chronological Case for Christ
A Chronological Case for Christ
This is a comprehensive working catalog of the principal Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in Jesus Christ — a much larger list than the familiar "300 prophecies" summaries usually offer. To keep the case honest, it separates direct Messianic prophecies, prophecies the New Testament explicitly applies to Christ, and Old Testament persons or events the New Testament identifies as prophetic types — rather than inflating the count by treating every category the same way.
Jesus Himself gave the governing principle for reading it: "These are the words which I spake unto you... that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me" (Luke 24:44). The Scriptures were not merely scattered with a few predictions. They were pointing toward Him the whole time.

This one is typological prophecy rather than a conventional verbal prediction. Exodus 12:1-14, 46 establishes the Passover lamb: selected, without blemish, killed; its blood delivers from judgment; its flesh is eaten; not one of its bones is broken.
Paul then writes: "Christ our passover is sacrificed for us" (1 Corinthians 5:7). John notices that Jesus' legs were not broken and connects this with Scripture (John 19:33-36). John the Baptist identifies Him directly: "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world" (John 1:29). The New Testament itself tells us how to read the type.
Leviticus 16 anticipates Christ's atoning work: the high priest enters the holy place with blood, the sacrifice deals with sin, atonement is made for the people. Hebrews interprets this system through Christ (Hebrews 9:7-14, 24-28; 10:1-14) — the animal sacrifices were temporary; Christ's sacrifice was once for all.
Numbers 21:8-9: Israel was dying, God commanded Moses to raise the serpent, and those who looked upon it lived. Jesus applies this directly to His own crucifixion: "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up" (John 3:14). Christ Himself interprets the Old Testament event prophetically.
Jonah spends three days and three nights in the great fish (Jonah 1:17). Jesus applies this directly to His death and resurrection: "So shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth" (Matthew 12:39-40).
| Old Testament Prophecy | Prophecy | Fulfillment |

| Psalm 16:8-11 | God's Holy One would not remain in Sheol or see corruption | Acts 2:25-32; 13:35-37 |
| Psalm 30:3 | Life brought up from the grave | Often read typologically |
| Isaiah 53:10-11 | After His death, the Servant would "see his seed" and prolong His days | Resurrection implied by the Servant living after death |
| Hosea 6:2 | Raised "on the third day" | Sometimes read typologically; compare 1 Corinthians 15:4 |
| Jonah 1:17 | Three days in the fish | Matthew 12:40 |
Psalm 16 is particularly strong because Peter says David was not speaking ultimately about himself: David "spake of the resurrection of Christ" (Acts 2:31).

If the purpose is to build the fullest possible case, the list of predictions shouldn't be where this stops. Jesus Himself gave the governing principle:
"These are the words which I spake unto you... that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me." (Luke 24:44)
Three divisions: the Law of Moses, the Prophets, the Psalms. Christ was not merely saying there are several verses scattered through the Old Testament that predicted Him — He was saying the Scriptures as a whole were pointing toward Him. Abraham and Isaac. The promised Seed. The Passover lamb. The manna. The rock. The bronze serpent. The tabernacle. The sacrifices. The high priest. The Day of Atonement. The scapegoat. Moses. Joshua. David. Solomon. Jonah. The rejected stone. The suffering Servant. The Branch. The Shepherd. The Son of David. The Son of Man. The King. The Priest. The Lamb. The One who is pierced. The One who dies. The One whose body does not see corruption. The One who rises. The One who ascends. The One who sits at God's right hand. The One who returns to reign.
That is why Jesus could say: "Search the scriptures... they are they which testify of me" (John 5:39). And after His resurrection: "Beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself" (Luke 24:27).
God spoke. Men wrote. Centuries passed. Christ came. The words were fulfilled.
Prophecy does not merely tell us what happened to Jesus — it establishes who He is.
